Beauty is is essential for me. Why? Well, because I like to take care of myself and not look like a homeless slob. No offense to anyone. Honestly, taking care of myself helps me feel better and gives me the confidence that I want and need. To do just that, I have 10 beauty commandments that I try to follow every day and today I am sharing them with you.
1 | Never wear your makeup to bed
Wearing your makeup to bed can clog your pores, give you breakouts, and just feels gross- at least in my case. I find that if I wash my face I feel a hundred times better in the morning. But if I am unable to drag my butt to the bathroom to use some water and cleanser, I will use a makeup wipe that I have on my beauty table. Sure, it's not ideal, but it does the trick.
2 | Cuticle oil is a must
I am a recovering nail biter. Gross, I know. Since I am, I am looking to grow out my nails. While researching how to grow my nails, I found out that nail care is so much more than filing, cleaning, and putting on some nail grower- it's about moisturizing the cuticle and the skin around it. I use a homemade oil mix of jojoba, vitamin e, sweet almond oils, combined with lavender essential oil; and I put it on my nails at least twice a day. Since starting the cuticle oil application a few months ago, my nails seem to be healthier, stronger, and the growth is measurable.
3 | Water is essential
I try to drink as much water as I can throughout the day to stay hydrated. Water is amazing for your system- it helps with your skin, stomach, and other systems. Plus drinking water helps with bloat! #girlwin
4 | Be kind to animals
If I have a choice, I will choose beauty products that are cruelty free, meaning that there is NO animal testing. I can't stand the thought of a little bunny, puppy, or monkey being harmed so I can make my face look pretty. AND there are so many cruelty free alternatives on the market today!
5 | Don't touch your face
I have small problem with touching my face, but it's horrible for my skin. My hands harbor so much bacteria and I am transferring it to my face, which produces breakouts and acne. I try to remind myself throughout the day to not touch my face, and if I am doing it, then I stop. It's about self control lol
6 | Shower caps are your bestie
I only wash my hair like twice a week, but sometimes I can't go more than two days between showers. So what do I do? Throw on a shower cap and get to scrubbing. I feel so much better after.
7 | ALWAYS clean your makeup brushes
Cleaning your makeup brushes will help remove all the caked on makeup and bacteria. It's so much better for your face and helps with makeup application. ALSO I have seen the repercussions of not cleaning your makeup brushes- and I NEVER want to go through that again!
8 | A good moisturizer is essential, but primer is optional
I know so many gals who rely on a great primer and will spend the money to get the best. Personally, I am not a fan of primers. Moisturizer is my bestie, and there are alot of moisturizers on the market that includes the primer ability.
9 | Sunscreen = younger looking skin
I am a natural redhead, so of course I burn in the sun. I try to apply sunscreen whenever I know I am going to be in the sun. I also choose a moisturizer with SPF in it. The point of all this is this: the sun will produce wrinkles, premature aging, sun spots... you know where I am going with this.
10 | Use a mask once a week
I really love facial and hair masks, but I have a "thing" for facial masks. I am borderline addicted to the way they make my face feel. I love how a mask can moisturize, brighten, calm, de-stress, clean out your pores, etc.
Do you have any beauty tips that you follow? Tell me about them!
Tabitha is my name, and makeup is my game. Well, not really, but I can tell you that I have a lot of it! I am always trying out the new pro...
