When I was younger, I really didn't care about skincare products. Sure, I used face wash and the normal things, but I didn't have to worry about acne.
Honestly, it wasn't until I turned 30 that I started to suffer from acne around my time of the month. In a nutshell, my skin can be completely clear until about two weeks before the start of Aunt Flo. Once I start breaking out, I know that it won't go away until the day after I actually start. To be honest, the acne hurts.
I have never actually been to a dermatologist for a prescription, but I have tried exfoliating with baking soda, dousing the area with apple cider vinegar, different acne spot treatments, and more... but nothing had helped. A few weeks ago, I was at Target and found about Differin® Gel. I knew I had to try it, especially because it's supposed to clear acne with the power of Rx!

Differin® Gel is the first and only prescription strength retinoid acne treatment available over the counter. It's the newest advancement and active ingredient in the OTC acne category in over 30 years! It has a long-standing heritage as a proven acne treatment, but now is NEW to the OTC acne aisle. Differin® Gel contains the only multi-benefit dermatologist recommended retinoid, Adapalene available over the counter.
It is different than a spot treatment, because instead of just putting it on a single area, you spread a thin layer over your face once a day, every day. The idea of Differin® Gel is for it to be integrated into your skincare routine, because it works deep in your pores to prevent breakout from the inside out before they begin; as a result, restores skin's texture and tone. I love the idea behind Differin® Gel.
When I bought Differin® Gel, I had to think about where I was going to put it in my bathroom. Even though I have been married for over 7 years, I really don't like it when my hubby sees my acne stuff. Sure, he has seen all of the behind the scenes beauty products, seen me get ready & put makeup on, and even has been in the bathroom while I'm doing my business, but when he sees my acne stuff, I feel like a teenager all over again. Basically, it kinda gives me a complex.
Since I hate storing any type of acne products in the medicine cabinet, but I like to have them easily accessible, I finally came up with a rather cute and nifty solution after buying Differin® Gel.
Yes, that is a cute little can that can hide all of my acne medication and there is even room for a little face wash, meaning that if I take a trip, all I have to do is throw the whole thing in my bag.
Want to know how to make it?
Materials Needed:
- Small Can with lid
- Scrapbook paper
- Decoupage glue
- Scissors
- Tape
- Sponge brush
Instructions:
- Measure the scrapbook paper around the can. Leave the lid on, because unless you are covering the lid, you want the paper to fit underneath of it. You can tape one side of the paper to make sure the measurement is accurate.
- After measuring, mark where you need to cut, and then cut.
- Apply decoupage glue to the back of the scrap book paper.
- Once the decoupage glue is tacky, smooth it onto the can. Again, you can use tape on one side of the paper to assure accuracy or to just hold it in place.
- Smooth out the bubbles and let dry.
- Once dry, store your acne medication in the can and display on your vanity, or where ever you feel.
I am really excited to try out Differin® Gel for one reason, and one reason only: I'm really tired of my face breaking out. Sure, a quick solution for the breakout is awesome when I get it, but if Differin® Gel can help stop the acne deep in my skin and essentially clear up the breakouts before they occur, then I am all in.
Oh, by the way, if you are interested in trying Differin® Gel, you can find it at Target. Please use caution when using Differin® Gel with more than one acne treatment or glycolic acid product because this could lead to irritation. It is also recommended to use a gentle face wash, and to moisturize, because the product can dry out your face. Personally I really love Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser.
Have you ever heard of Differin® Gel?
