Detox your skin with Derma E

Since 2015, I have been in love with charcoal beauty products. And the reason is simple: You know the clean & refreshed feeling you get when you go to bed with your makeup on, wake up the next day with an oily face, and wash you face? I get that feeling whenever I use a charcoal cleanser or mask.

I recently had the chance to work with an amazing brand: Derma E, and try out two of their charcoal products: the Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask & the Purifying Daily Detox Scrub. So today, I am going to tell you just why charcoal beauty products are the bomb dot com, and give you a review of the two charcoal products from Derma E.

First things first, if you haven't heard about Derma E, prepare to get educated, because Derma E is all about ethical beauty. Second, here's why charcoal beauty product should be on your radar: Without getting all scientific, activated charcoal has a long resume of health and beauty benefits. Basically when it's made, run of the mill charcoal is heated with a gas that causes it to expand, creating a porous surface that traps toxins. Basically it's a miracle ingredient. And when added to a face or body cleanser or mask, activated charcoal acts like a magnet and draws out dirt, oil, and other impurities (aka bacteria) within your pores without leaving a residue or making your skin feel tight and hydrated. Therefore, activated charcoal can basically detox your skin.

Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask

My thoughts

On a daily basis, our skin is exposed to many toxins and pollutants, so using a mask that can get rid of those nasty things can help prevent breakouts. I mean, I personally love using masks. And in a nutshell, I would compare this mask to a mud mask. It feels like one and dries like one. The nice thing about the Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask is the face that it is 2-in-1, meaning that not only does it detoxify, but it also exfoliates for clean, beautiful, & glowing skin. 

I really loved how tight and clean my face felt after one use. When it was drying, I did feel a tingling/cooling sensation, and a tightness, because what happens when mud dries? After rinsing off, I did not experience any redness, but my face did feel a bit dry; but that was to be expected.

I have used this mask a few times since receiving it, and to be honest, it's my favorite mask. My face always feels wonderful after using it. The one thing that I can recommend is this: do not use this mask after using another charcoal product, like a scrub/face wash. You will dry out your skin, and it will lead to a break out. Other than that, using it by itself will lead to GREAT things for your face.

*I generally apply all of my thicker masks with a makeup brush, because it helps the formula go on better.

Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

My thoughts

I have started using the scrub daily, and  I love how it feels on my face: almost like microdermabrasion, but with a cooling after feeling. It has really helped with the amount of oil that my skin produces and the amount of pimples that I usually get around my time of the month. 

After using the scrub, my face doesn't feel dried out- it feels hydrated and wonderful. Even though I have rather sensitive skin, I have yet to have any type of reaction while using it. I really love that the scrub is natural and organic, and I feel good when I use it. 

I definitely recommend the purifying daily detox scrub to anyone who needs some skin detox, is suffering from congested skin, or needs something for acne.
