Another month and come and gone, and guess what... I am still in love with the fact that I decided to grab myself a Birchbox subscription.
For those of you who don't know what Birchbox is, it's a monthly subscription box filled with 4-5 deluxe samples and 1 full size product every month according to the beauty profile that you fill out. You basically receive beauty products (which includes hair and makeup) and one lifestyle item for $10 a month. You can cancel at any time, and it's a pretty nice "try before you buy" service, as no box is ever the same.
This month Birchbox teamed up with Women's health and the theme was "Power Up." Basically they wanted to give subscribers a way to energize their routines, and even included a little book with 12 Power Up challenges that inspire to maximize workouts, sleep, and all the stuff in between. Pretty neat idea, huh?
The first thing I noticed upon opening up the box that contained this month's box, was the colorful new design for the month. You see, Birchbox has a signature brown box, and they usually have a design on the inside. Not this month.
Opening my box, I was pleasantly surprised. I have had some great boxes over the past months (I've been a subscriber since March), but this box wasn't my top favorite ever.
I received:
suki® exfoliate foaming cleanser, Marcelle New·Age 8 in 1 Power Serum, RUFFIAN Nail Lacquer - Ambrosia, RUFFIAN Dressing Room Nail Lacquer Remover Towelettes, Coastal Scents® Revealed 2 Palette Set, & Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream.
Oh, also included with the box, was a certificate for a FREE year of Women's Health. Ok, you guys should know that I don't exercise and I am more of a Cosmo, Redbook, Glamour kinda girl, so the nice thing about the certificate: I can print out a confirmation of my Birchbox subscription, fill out the certificate, send it in, and recieve a $9.99 refund! Yes, that actually makes my July box FREE!!!
My favorite product from July's box was the Marcelle New·Age 8 in 1 Power Serum. I have been looking for a serum/ face moisturizer that I could fall in love with, and well, Marcelle definitely fit my bill. It wasn't sticky, glided on my skin, and made my face soft. Since I loved it so much, I actually cashed in my points* and bought the Marcelle New-Age Gift Set, which includes a serum, bottle of makeup remover, day cream, and cleanser. Truthfully, Marcelle may become my new favorite makeup/skin care line. (I loved their BB cream from my May Birchbox.)
My second favorite product was the Coastal Scents® Revealed 2 Palette Set. I received a four of the twenty shades in the palette, and loved all of them. I am a neutrals type of gal, and my lord, the colors were beautiful. They looked amazing, but light, when I applied, and stayed for the whole day. Definitely a contender against my Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette.
New this month, was an option to pick one of your samples, and I chose the RUFFIAN Nail Lacquer in Ambrosia. As a bonus, the also sent me a RUFFIAN Dressing Room Nail Lacquer Remover Towelette. The color of the nail polish is beautiful and metallic. Longevity was around a week, week and a half.
The Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream smells amazing, and is a pretty nice sized sample.
Out of the whole box, I really didn't like the suki® exfoliate foaming cleanser. Sure it does the job, and left my face feeling amazing, but it has a lemon smell, and I HATE lemon. Change the smell, and I would definitely buy it.
Overall it was a great box and I personally think that you should try Birchbox out. I mean it's only ten bucks. What else could you be spending ten bucks on?
If you want to sign up for Birchbox, you can do it here.
I loved being able to choose something for my box too! I went with the Rose Gold nail polish. And I loved the nail polish remover wipes; they smelled amazing! Super jelly you got the Reveal eyeshadow. I really wanted that! Maybe they've got extras and I'll get it next month ;)
ReplyDeleteI envy the nail polish! I got hit by the glitch and ended up with the lip tint. Great box!
